Safeguarding Overview

Safeguarding children and Child Protection are integral parts of the roles of all adults at Monkton Academy.  We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of all pupils, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and follow our safeguarding procedures.

All Staff and Governors receive annual training in child protection and safeguarding and are aware of the procedure for passing on welfare concerns within the academy.

Parents should be aware that the Academy will take any reasonable action to ensure the safety of its pupils.  In cases where the Academy has cause to be concerned that a child may be subject to ill-treatment, neglect or any other form of abuse our staff must follow procedure and inform Children’s Services. If you have any concerns, please notify the school or Children’s Social Care.

We also use Place to Be counselling service where disclosures can be made and further action taken if it is deemed necessary by the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Operation Encompass

We are an Operation Encompass School, this means that we work closely with the Police and Children’s Social Care for the protection of our children.
