3rd December 2021
As you may be aware, the school has recently been awarded the PSQM (Primary Science Quality Mark) for the teaching of Science across all year groups. This would not have been possible without the hard work of all pupils and also the dedication of the staff to Science as a subject. However, as Science Coordinator I intend to make sure that these high standards are not only consistently met, but also that we continue to develop the subject within our curriculum. In order to do this, I must ensure that the impact of this is evaluated at regular intervals so that I can adapt and improve things as we move through the year in order for the children to continue to receive the best teaching and learning in Science as possible. Therefore, I will be collecting information from not only pupils and staff, but also from yourselves as parents and carers, as your opinions are incredibly valuable to us as part of a home/school partnership.
I have attached a short questionnaire which I would be grateful if you could take a small amount of time to complete and return so that I can gain an idea of the ‘bigger picture’ that the children are bringing home with them after their Science learning so far this year. Please be completely honest, but can I also ask that the answers focus specifically on Science only, although if you feel that Science has impacted on learning in other areas of the curriculum I would love to hear that too.
After two difficult years we have all learnt that Science has never been more important in terms of its impact on our daily lives and I thank you for your continued support in this area. I will be repeating this activity with pupils, staff and parents again this year at termly intervals in order to further evaluate and maintain the progress we are making in this subject.
Thank you for your time and I’m looking forward to hearing your responses.
